Plum Hill School is a Waldorf-inspired early childhood center on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. We are seeking qualified and experienced teachers to join our team. We have openings in both our Nursery (15-33 months) and Preschool (2.9-5+yrs) classrooms.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Has experience working in a Waldorf early childhood setting and/or knowledge of Waldorf Early Childhood pedagogy and a desire to learn more

  • Has Massachusetts EEC credentials or the experience and education that enables them to obtain them

  • Brings a warm, steady, and joyful presence to the classroom

  • Understands the developmental needs of children ages 1–6 and works in harmony with them

  • Has strong skills in rhythm, storytelling, puppetry, circle work, and nature-based play

  • Communicates compassionately with parents and colleagues, and values community building

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Leading/contributing to planning the daily and weekly rhythm of the classroom

  • Creating an atmosphere of warmth, safety, and wonder through imitation and intentional activity

  • Planning/contributing to seasonal festivals, songs, stories, and crafts, planning parent enrichment activities

  • Partnering with parents in support of the child’s growth and home-school connection

  • Collaborating with fellow faculty and contributing to the school’s growth and vision
